  7.     While the rest of the Administration worries about Scuds and
  8. tanks, a few of George Bush's advisers have turned their
  9. attention to the weighty matter of what to call the President's
  10. re-election effort. The straightforward CREEP (Committee to
  11. Re-Elect the President) will simply not do: too many
  12. associations with the tainted Nixon and Watergate years. Other
  13. possibilities discussed, albeit none very seriously:

  15.     CRAB (The Committee to Re-Anoint Bush). Considered too regal
  16. and, uh, pinched.
  17.  
  18.     REBAQ (Re-Elect Bush and Quayle). Main drawback: sounds like
  19. an aerobics shoe.
  20.  
  21.     PREC (The President's Re-Election Committee). Not regal
  22. enough. Also, invites mispronunciation and ridicule.
  23.  
  24.     REB (Re-Elect Bush). A potential winner. Pithy and easy to
  25. remember. Could have appeal among Southern whites . . .
